If you want to bring your company to Austin, Travis County commissioners will require you to pay everyone involved—including construction workers—$11 an hour.

Austin Business Journal Editor Colin Pope said now the city is mulling over taking up the same mandate. While it isn’t a huge deal to pay employees at that rate, some worry it could hike up construction costs.
One of those concerned is Mayor Lee Leffingwell, who hopes more companies will look to Austin as a locator for business, just like Apple and HID Global have done recently.
However, the ABJ reports making the $11 hourly wage a city policy won’t drive away customers to the city.
