Tonight on Capital Tonight: The final campaign push

The U.S. Senate Race

The candidates for U.S. Senate are making their final pitches to Texas voters. Ted Cruz hit the campaign trail with soon-to-be senior Senator John Cornyn, this week. We caught up with him at an event in Austin. Tonight, hear what he has to say about immigration reform, tax increases, the economy and his support for a possible leadership position for Sen. Cornyn.

Cruz is running against Democrat Paul Sadler. This evening, Sadler joins us in the "Capital Tonight" studio to talk about his plans to pay down the national debt, his thoughts on immigration and the DREAM Act and his ideas for energy independence.

Sandy and the presidential election

Historically, presidential candidates spend the week leading up to election day logging extra miles and putting in overtime in vital swing states. This year, though, a force of nature forced President Obama to shift his focus to real world issues and forced Mitt Romney to take time off the campaign trail. Our Washington, DC bureau reporter Erin Billups will take a closer look at Superstorm Sandy's impact on the presidential race.

Capital Commentators

This week, the East Coast suffered a natural disaster, new polls were released and there is a new jobs report to discuss. As always, our experts will join us live in the studio to break it all down. And, be sure to watch for their election night predictions!
