Weekend Anchor/Reporter

Karina Kling is YNN's weekend anchor and government reporter. She joined YNN in September 2008 as the Williamson County Bureau Chief where she worked for a year before moving into the Austin newsroom to take on Texas politics.

Karina earned her master’s degree in broadcast journalism from Syracuse University’s Newhouse School.

She spent her last semester in school interning in Washington, D.C. as the D.C. correspondent for KMID-TV in Midland, Texas.

A Midwest native, Karina grew up in Sterling, Kan. and graduated with honors from Hastings College, Hastings, Neb.

She earned a double major in media production and vocal music performance.
Before heading south to enjoy warmer weather, Karina was a reporter/anchor at KOLN/KGIN in Lincoln, Neb.

Karina said some of the highlights of her career in Lincoln included traveling with firefighters to Greensburg, Kan. following the May, 2007 tornado, speaking to Nebraska's astronaut, Clay Anderson, via space, and covering Nebraska's first-ever Democratic Caucus.

In her spare time, you can find Karina playing piano and singing, running, and most of all—trying to keep up with her beloved family and friends.

Karina's happy to be in the Live Music Capital of the World and has enjoyed getting to cover SXSW and ACL festivals, interviewing bands and getting a look at the behind-the-scenes work that goes into putting on such events.
