Today’s experiment is perfect for kids who love to make some noise--we’re learning how to make a chicken call.
First, take a plastic cup and punch a hole in the bottom with some scissors. Run some twine through and tie it to a paper clip to act as a stopper to keep the twine in place. It’s also a transmitter of sound waves.
If you pull the string tight you’ll get better reception than if it’s loose. Take a wet paper towel and pinch it around the string on the side that’s coming out the top of the cup. Then drag your fingers down the twine.
Do you hear a sound like a chicken clucking? It’s all thanks to science.
