It takes a lot of work to keep a football game going. You have referees and line judges, announcers and score keepers, but two of the most important people on the field are the ball boys.
Caleb Jones is Austin High School's most popular player. Everyone loves him because of what he does on the field. The same is true for Heston Williams.
“It's a pretty tough job. There's a lot of running around catching up with the refs and stuff,” Williams said.
This is his third season, and he loves the perks.
“They see me on TV sometimes and see me on the field from the stands,” he said. “It's pretty cool.”
Friday, Heston was training a new guy who was trying to keep up.
"He told me to just stay by him because he has obviously been doing it a lot longer than me. So, I just have to learn from him and stuff,” third-grader Beau Beathard said.
While Beau tags along, his heart is on the field. He dreams of becoming one of the players on the field.
Maybe one day Beau will be as popular as Caleb and Heston.
"Well I told him to just stay close to me and maybe one day he can be as good as me, hopefully," Heston said.
