In 1909, the Spoetzl Brewery in Shiner, Texas began producing beer for locals that were missing some of the comforts of home, and since then the brewery’s reputation has continued to grow.

YNN’s Russell Wilde spoke with Brew Master Jimmy Mauric about the brewery’s roots and success.

"Shiner Bock is our flagship beer. It's what put us on the map," Mauric said.

The Spoetzl Brewery now produces close to six million cases of beer each year that are distributed across the country and to Mexico. Thousands of visitors come to Shiner every year to see the brewery that combines old world methods and modern technology.

"All this beer is made at this one little facility. I think that's what amazes them. They think we're so much bigger than we are, but we produce a lot of beer out of this little plant," he said.

Mauric said visitors enjoy the laid-back atmosphere in Shiner and that this small town feel and sense of local pride comes through in the products the brewery produces.
