The Mexic-Arte Museum in Downtown Austin is a celebration of Latino Culture.
“When people walk into the Mexic-Arte Museum, ideally we want to present something they’ve never seen before, or something they have seen before but in a non-traditional sense,” said Claudia Zapata, the museum’s executive director.
The museum features everything from pop art to folk, modern and traditional art, all crafted by Latino artists.
Though the museum has already enjoyed a high level of acclaim, Zapata said there’s always a push to do more.
In 2003, the 78th Legislature designated the Mexic-Arte Museum as the Official Mexican and Mexican American Fine Art Museum of Texas.
