Austin is hosting the Summer X-Games this spring, but one local car dealership couldn’t wait for the action. Lost Pines Toyota gave some local youngsters and X-treme sports preview where they got to meet some pros and see them perform.
The kids also learned about safety gear, like helmets and knee pads.
"I hope that some of these kids walk away from here today saying, 'You know what, hey dad, I want to get a BMX bike,’ ‘Hey mom, can you get me one of those moto bikes?'” said Jim Wilkinson, the dealership’s store manager. “Take on the challenge and the determination of becoming an athlete themselves."
Event organizers hope that X-games fans will also visit Bastrop, just 20 miles away from Circuit of The Americas, where the games will take place.
Austin will be home to the extreme sports competition for four years beginning in May of 2014.
