Expect more arrests on Austin roadways Monday as APD's ‘No Refusal’ initiative for the Labor Day weekend continues.
Officers made 28 DWI arrests on Sunday—nine from breathalyzer tests and another 19 from blood draws. On Friday and Saturday, there were more than 50 arrests.
The arrests came as part of a No Refusal initiative which was enforced due to the holiday weekend. During No Refusal initiatives, officers can more easily obtain search warrants to draw blood from DWI suspects who refuse to take alcohol breath tests. The initiative isn't just for roadways, but extends to area lakes as well.
The initiative runs through 5 a.m. Tuesday morning.
