A man is now indicted for first-degree murder in the 2010 death of a woman found off Old McDade road in Elgin.
Forty-year-old Donna Marie Self, a resident of Elgin, was discovered wrapped in bedding materials in the 900 block of Old McDade Road in the morning hours of Nov. 27, 2010. An autopsy ruled her death a homicide.
DNA found on Self’s body matched that of 38-year-old Issac Anthony Martinez. A search warrant was issued to Martinez’s home at 146 Natures Way in Elgin, where evidence was found linking him further to Self’s homicide.
Martinez was already in jail on an unrelated probation violation. On Sept. 4, a grand jury formally indicted him with first-degree murder.
