Family members of an Austin woman who's been missing for three years and presumed dead says they're pleased with the progress in the case.
Last week, police arrested Julie Ann Gonzalez's estranged husband, George De La Cruz, and charged him with murder.
Former State Senator Gonzalo Barrientos held a press conference Tuesday in the parking lot of the drug store where Gonzalez's car was found.
Speaking on behalf of her family, Barrientos said they're glad the case is moving forward after so long. He also asked for privacy for both families involved.
"The family has for over three years gone through sleepless nights, pain, anger, stress, anxiety and of course much prayer,” Barrientos said.
In March 2010, Gonzalez disappeared on her way to pick up her two-year-old daughter from De La Cruz.
Gonzalez and De La Cruz were in the process of getting a divorce. Two days later, police found her car in the parking lot of a drug store near De La Cruz's home.
