If you're looking to put your home on the market, Austin's a good place to do it.
The Austin housing market has been hot for a while -- especially for sellers -- and Austin Business Journal Editor Colin Pope has the numbers to prove it.
Pope says about 3,100 homes were sold in the Austin area in August, which represents a significant increase from previous years.
"By selling 3,100 homes, that's 30 percent more homes than we sold even a year ago when the housing market was super hot," Pope said. "We're selling double the homes we were two years ago."
And it's not just the number of homes sold each month that's increasing. The median price for a single-family home in Austin in August was $224,000, up 6 percent from a year before.
"Prices are going up, value is going up, everything's going up," Pope said.
