There are stations all around Austin that can help you enroll online for a health insurance plan in the new Affordable Care Act marketplace.
The healthcare exchange is up and running as of today.
Insure Central Texas, set up by Foundation Communities, is helping local people sort though the steps.
Elizabeth Colvin, of Foundation Communities, said the most pressing question people have is about the cost. How much you’ll spend on an insurance policy through the exchange will depend on your age, income and family size.
“Since the financial aid that will reduce people’s cost of insurance is based on income, it’s important to bring in your income documents, the last paycheck for every job you’ve had in 2013, the last tax return you filed if that’s available, and just an idea of what you think you might make in 2014,” said Elizabeth Colvin, of Foundation Communities.
You can visit two sign-up centers in Austin through the end of October. You have to enroll by Dec. 15 to get coverage starting next year.
