By Sunday morning, the roar of Barton Creek in South Austin was an indicator of just how much rain fell in Central Texas over the weekend.
In the 78704 zip code between Loop 360 and the Barton Springs Pool, about one foot of rain poured down in less than 24 hours.
"We drove by and saw one of the cars that had been flooded out in one of the creeks," Austin resident Dominic Milenzzo said. "Twenty-two years I have been here, and I have seen a lot of the flooding, but never a car washing down the street."
At Austin's crown jewel--Barton Springs Pool--flood waters spilled over the diving board. Across the street at Zilker Park, lakes of water formed on the lawn where the third and final day of Austin City Limits Music Festival was supposed to take place. C3 Presents canceled the event citing fears about the safety of fans trying to make it to the park.
"[I’m] pretty bummed,” fest-goer and Miami resident Eylse Nicholette said. “I think there were some curses being let go when we found out."
Other concert goers were more upset. Two sisters who traveled from Mexico City to attend the weekend's shows told YNN they felt cheated, despite the severe weather.
The two siblings did say they would try again next year--if the forecast predicted sunny skies.
