The Waller Creek construction site in downtown Austin took on several feet of water Sunday—causing cranes and other construction equipment to sit underwater.
Workers at the site say a makeshift levee separating the construction site from Lady Bird Lake held up nicely, until the Lower Colorado River Authority opened one of its floodgates.
Crews are working Monday to pump the water out of the construction site.
There's no word how much damage the flood waters caused to the equipment. The water didn't get into the tunnel, and crews don't expect the rain event to push back the project's timetable.
