A woman was found murdered in Waco Tuesday morning, just hours after police believe she participated in a home invasion-style robbery in the area.
According to Waco police, 28-year-old Tarrie Lynn Byrom and three men forced open a 19-year-old man’s door just after midnight. They restrained the man with tape and beat him with their fists and a handgun.
After stealing the victim’s property, Byrom and the three men left the 19-year-old’s apartment and one of the men stole the victim’s green pickup truck.
The 19-year-old was able to free himself and called for help from a neighbor’s home. He was treated at Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center for his injuries and released.
About three hours later, Waco police responded to a call of gunshots about five miles away from the earlier robbery. Officers found the victim’s stolen vehicle when they arrived.
While searching the area, officers found Byrom’s body several yards away from the truck. Police say she was shot and stabbed in the torso several times. Her body has been sent to Dallas for an autopsy.
No arrests have been made.
