An early morning fire Wednesday seriously damaged most of the Texas Civil Rights Project's East Austin location.
Fire officials say the building on Montopolis Drive suffered about $140,000 in structure and property damages.
No one was inside the building, but workers say the fire destroyed most of their offices as well as their paperwork.
"I can't imagine that we're going to be able to have a functional office for weeks or maybe even months,” Wayne Kraufe Yang with the Texas Civil Rights Project said. “This is all going to put us back, but it's not going to stop us. Not for a second."
There's no word yet on how the fire started, but investigators say it appears to be accidental.
