Austin firefighters have knocked out a kitchen fire at La Condesa restaurant in downtown Austin.
Fire crews were called out to the scene of the fire at about 2:30 p.m. as smoke billowed from the building in the 400 block of W. 2nd St.
Firefighters put out a fire in the kitchen of the restaurant, but worried the blaze got into the ventilation system. The crews worked in the parking garage above the restaurant to access the vents to ensure the fire was completely out. They also checked a high-rise apartment building nearby.
La Condesa made the following statement in a Facebook post after the incident:
"Thank you everyone for your concern! We did experience a fire in the building earlier this afternoon and we will be closing for service this evening. We will be reaching out to all reservations shortly. We are thankful everyone is safe and for the Austin Fire Department. More updates soon."
