One-hour special: YNN explores the way our lives have changed as a result of what happened September 11, 2001. We’ll also share the stories of our own community, including an Austin man who survived one of the tower attacks. We'll also speak to a family who lost a loved one and talk to first responders who went to New York City to help in the days after Sept. 11. We'll find out how families have altered they way they raise their children. Finally, we'll explore the political landscape in the aftermath of 9/11.

Communities of Austin, Bastrop remember 9/11

Despite a devastating week in Bastrop, community members there still came together Sunday to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the Sept. 11 terror attacks. Also, the Austin Firefighters Association held a memorial to honor the 343 firefighters who lost their lives as a result of the attacks.

The moments mark the times that each plane hit the towers; when each tower fell; and the attacks on the Pentagon and Flight 93. Houses of worship throughout the city were asked to toll their bells for the first moment of silence at 8:46 a.m., which marks when the first plane hit the North Tower. The second moment of silence came at 9:03 a.m. to mark when the second plane hit the South Tower.
