Texas men's hoops picked to finish 4th in the Big 12
IRVING, Texas -The University of Texas men's basketball team is picked to finish fourth in the Big 12 Conference in a vote of the league coaches, the Conference announced Thursday.
With nine first-place votes, Kansas is the unanimous preseason favorite to win the league after advancing to the 2012 NCAA Championship game last season. Baylor received one first-place vote and was picked second with 63 points. Oklahoma State was picked third (63), followed by Texas (60) to round out the top four.
Coaches were not allowed to vote for their own teams.
The Conference will hold its preseason media day on Wednesday, Oct. 17 at Sprint Center in Kansas City - the site of the 2013 Phillips 66 Big 12 Men's Basketball Championship.
Texas opens the 2012-13 season on Friday, Nov. 9 against Fresno State. Tip is scheduled for 7 p.m. Central at the Frank Erwin Center, and the game will be televised live on Longhorn Network.
