Memorial Day weekend is the kick off to the summer and one of the busiest lake days in Central Texas, but the ongoing drought has closed all the public boat ramps on Lakes Travis and drastically changed the lay of the lake. Local law enforcement still expects boats to fill the water and will be on watch to keep them safe.

Griffin’s father files suit against Nestande, Clive Bar

The father of 30-year-old Courtney Griffin, who was fatally struck by a BMW driven by Gabrielle Nestande in May 2011, filed a lawsuit late Thursday against both Nestande and Clive Bar on Rainey Street, where the former legislative aide was drinking before she got behind the wheel. Courtney’s mother, Laurie Griffin, filed a lawsuit seeking $1 million from Nestande and Clive Bar in March. Nestande, a California native, is currently serving 180 days in jail as part of her 10-year probated sentence for criminally negligent homicide.
