Two local celebrities are doing their part to raise money for Alzheimer's research.
Actor Matthew McConaughey and cyclist Lance Armstrong will lend their support to legendary Texas football coach Darrell Royal as the DKR Fund for Alzheimer's research launches Tuesday.
Royal's wife will testify before an interim senate committee, where she plans to announce the creation of the fund with her husband by her side.
McConaughey and Armstrong will also be there.
Mrs. Royal wants to bring attention to the physical, mental and financial challenges that come with being a caregiver to someone with Alzheimer's, and point out that Texas needs a vehicle for collaborative research for the disease.
Texas ranks third in the nation for the number of people with Alzheimer's.
