Prominent Houston lawyer to prosecute in Anderson inquiry

Prominent Houston defense lawyer Rusty Hardin has been named the special prosecutor in the court of inquiry for former Williamson County District Attorney Ken Anderson.
The court of inquiry will decide whether Anderson, who is now a sitting district judge, acted improperly and kept information from the defense during the 1987 murder trial of Michael Morton. Morton was wrongly convicted of killing his wife, Christine Morton.
Michael Morton's lawyers believe Anderson purposely withheld information which could have exonerated Morton. Morton served 24 years in prison, but was freed last year after new DNA testing of old evidence implicated another man.
Anderson maintains he didn't do anything wrong.
Last month, Tarrant County Judge Louis Sturns was appointed to preside over the inquiry.
