Texas Delegates turned out for the Democratic National Convention. YNN’s Alana Rocha sat on the convention floor with a delegate from San Antonio to see what it’s like to be at the convention.
“It has just been wonderful. It’s very humbling to know and be together in such a huge venue, with all types of people that truly represent the American population,” Texas Delegate Diana Martinez said. “This is democracy at work, and I couldn’t be prouder.”
Martinez said she believes Texas Democrats are just as unified as the party. She says the Democratic Party needs to stand strong because the GOP will only take the nation backwards.
“If we went with some of the ideals of others, I believe that would be taking us back to 18th century or something,” Martinez said. “Women fought really hard for suffrage and it feels like they would take us back to even before then.”
Her top issues are health care and education.
