Despite the rainy weather, spirits were sunny at a non-traditional church service in Waco Sunday morning.

More than 200 people filled seats outdoors for worship at “Church Under the Bridge.”

For several decades now, as the name suggests, the group has been meeting under an Interstate-35 overpass.

Sunday marked the 20th anniversary for the non-denominational church which spreads the word of God to the poor and homeless.

"It doesn't discriminate against them, they don't have to worry about what they wear, they don't have to worry about money, or society looking down on them," Pastor Ted Jones said.

"There's been a lot of people who have been in the same shoes that I have been in,” church attendee Patricia Cash Lechler said. “That's one of the reasons why I like the church so much is that they don't judge you."

The church holds worship services every Sunday at 11 a.m. under the bridge at I-35 and Fourth Street in Waco. Meals are served at 10:30 a.m.
