Central Texas' young creative problem solvers will soon have a new place to explore.

Dozens celebrated the Austin Children's Museum move to the Mueller development Tuesday.

Construction has begun on the 40,000 square foot facility, but officials say they need roughly $4 million to complete the $17 million project.

The museum's Executive Director Mike Nellis says more space equals more programs.

"We've refreshed our mission, to which is to equip and inspire the next generation of problem solvers,” he said. “We'll be focusing on science and technology as the new focus for the museum and we'll be expanding our age range up to about 11."

The new facility will be twice the size of the Museum's current home on Second Street. It will open at the end of next year.
