Fort Hood honored the memory one of their own Friday.

Officials renamed the parade field in front of the 13th Expeditionary Sustainment Command building after Brigadier General Terence Hildner.

Hildner died of natural causes in February, while deployed to Afghanistan. During the dedication ceremony, Hildner was remembered as a true leader and a dedicated family man.

Those who served alongside him say, the naming of a field on a military installation is a big honor--one that he rightly deserved.

"Every real leader leads from the front. Gen. Hildner always led from the front,” former 13th ESC Deputy Commander Knowles Atchison said. “You can't lead from the front unless you lead by example. That's what I want troops to remember."

The ceremony was carried live through video teleconference in Afghanistan for soldiers with the 13th ESC who are still deployed.

Hildner is survived by his wife and four children.
