Police seek suspect in North Austin robbery

Austin police are searching for the man they say robbed a North Austin bank Thursday morning.

According to Senior Officer Veneza Bremner, officers were called to the International Bank of Commerce on the northwest corner of West Braker Lane and Burnet Road just before 9:30 a.m. for a report of a robbery.

Bremner said a man walked into the bank, brandished a weapon and fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of cash.

The suspect has been described as:

• Hispanic male
• Medium build
• Early 30s
• Dark hair

Witnesses told police the robber was wearing a UT cap and sunglasses at the time.

No injuries were reported.

This is Austin’s 14th bank robbery of the year. At this time last year, there were 20 bank robberies.
