Ft. Hood debuts new, improved stadium

A new sports complex in Killeen made its debut over the weekend.
Hood Stadium on the Fort Hood Army Post has been rebuilt after a two-year absence.
The $14 million project built by the Corps of Engineers features 5,500 seats and a world class running track.
Built in 1951, the previous Hood Stadium was torn down in 2010 to make way for a new Army hospital.
Local leaders and supporters turned out for the ribbon cutting.
"We look forward to the completion of this project which will provide the continued support of major events such as Freedom Fest," Brig. Gen. James Richardson said.
The stadium is just one part of a multi-purpose complex under construction that, when complete, will also feature a concert stage and baseball facility.
Hood Stadium is also home to Killeen Independent School District football teams.
The first game at Hood stadium featured a big win for Harker Heights. They defeated Shoemaker High 28 to 12.
