A few City Hall regulars, a former city council member, and a bunch of other folks that can't get to the regular Thursday meeting came Saturday for a special City Council community forum.
Former Council Member Willie Lewis brought up bike lanes, property taxes and Proposition 3, the 10-1 single member district plan on this year's ballot.
"I would like to see someone from my area represent me and that is because people in your area know some of the problems in your area," Willie Lewis said.
Other issues that came up: health care for those in need and a park improvement project.
The Austin City Council hosted the forum Saturday because they know some people can't get to City Hall during the week.
"People often feel rushed and often feel like they can't discuss things in a proactive manner," Mayor Pro Tem Sheryl Cole said. "We definitely try to listen and that's part of our job to listen, listen and listen again."
The upcoming election factored into council's decision to host the forum, but Cole says the point was to accommodate any and all concerns.
Although only a small group showed up this time, those who were there appreciated the Council coming in on Saturday to hear them out.
