Camping is on the rise nationwide and people in Texas love to spend their vacations outdoors.
Now, the Lower Colorado River Authority is making it easier for you to reserve a spot in nature using the comforts of the 21st century.
The LCRA’s new reservation system goes into effect today Tuesday. Previously, LCRA and Texas Parks and Wildlife had a combined reservation call center, but now you can just go through LCRA directly.
It gives campers the ability to reserve specific sites at a variety of parks, including Lake Bastrop’s North Shore and South Shore parks, Black Rock Park, Oak Thicket Park, Park Prairie Park and Matagorda Bay Nature Park.
"I think the real need is for people to feel like they have access,” LCRA Parks Superintendent Drew Pickle said. “They're used to going on and looking at anything through their phone or through their laptop. They want to know what is available and they want to know what is available now."
Campers can make reservations at by phone or online. The number is (855) 392-7638, and you can click here for more information online.
