Georgetown ISD English teacher dies in car wreck
A veteran teacher in the Georgetown Independent School District was killed Wednesday morning in a car wreck on her way to school.
According to Brad Domitrovich, Director of School and Community relations for Georgetown ISD, 54 year old Deidre Furr taught English and SAT Prep for 12 years at Georgetown High School.
“It is difficult when our school community loses a member of its family,” Superintendent Joe Dan Lee said in an emailed statement. “Ms. Furr was a role model to so many students, and her gift to teach will become a fitting tribute and memorial of her life.”
Georgetown ISD’s Crisis Counseling Plan has been put into action and will provide counselors and nurses for students at Georgetown High School, Domitrovich said.
