Austin police identify driver of 18-wheeler killed in fiery wreck
Austin police have identified the driver of an 18-wheeler who was killed in a fiery wreck late Tuesday morning on Interstate-35.

Officers say a Ford Taurus was traveling northbound on I-35 when it veered into another lane, in front of an 18-wheeler driven by 52-year-old Reginald D. Porch. At that time, Porch left the roadway and struck a concrete bridge pillar underneath the Slaughter Creek Overpass.

The 18-wheeler caught fire and Porch was pronounced dead on the scene.

This is Austin’s sixth traffic fatality of the year. Last year at this time in 2012, there were three traffic fatalities. Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call APD’s Vehicular Homicide Unit at (512) 974-5312.
