The Capital City’s legendary blues nightclub, Antone’s, will close its doors in its current 5th and Lavaca location and relocate outside of downtown.

The club's spokesperson, Frank Hendrix, told YNN that the club will move sometime after South by Southwest in March, and an announcement naming the new location will come on Jan. 28.

Mr. Hendrix cites decreasing attendance and customers complaining about the unavailability of downtown parking as reasons behind the move.

Although unconfirmed, YNN’s Andy Langer reports the most likely new location is south of the river— Emo’s and the Beauty Ballroom have already relocated to bigger locations on East Riverside.

Antone’s first opened its doors on Sixth Street in 1975. Antone's left its Guadalupe home- it's third and perhaps most famous location- for downtown in 1997.

Over the years the club has hosted legendary music acts, from locals like Stevie Ray Vaughan, Willie Nelson and Gary Clark Jr. to national headliners like Muddy Waters, Ray Charles and B.B. King.
