An Austin-area man wanted for murder was arrested Thursday while he attempted to cross the Rio Grande.

According to the Cameron County Sheriff’s Office, 58-year-old Roy Rogers Soliz told authorities that he had paid someone to transport him across the river back into the United States.

Soliz is the main suspect in the shooting death of 38-year-old Christopher Carson last week. Police said the suspect and Carson knew each other before Carson was gunned down in a North Travis County business.

Soliz is being held at the Carrizales-Rucker Detention Center in Cameron County.
