With South by Southwest only a few weeks away, it’s the perfect time to hear where Austin’s music industry stands.

Music brings millions into our economy every year and creates thousands of jobs. Monday night, Austin Music People will present the State of Austin Music Industry at the KLRU studios in Central Austin.

Council Member Mike Martinez and Austin Police Chief Art Acevedo are two big names expected to attend.

"The Austin music industry is strong,” Jennifer Houlihan with Austin Music People said. “Do we have room to improve? Yes, but when you look at the economic impact of the industry it’s $1.6 billion."
