Parts from more than a dozen stolen motorcycles have been found along the bottom of Lake Austin.

The dive team discovered parts from at least 14 different bikes after a tip to police led them to the Pennybacker Bridge. Investigators believe the parts are from stolen motorcycles that have been discarded because they would have been easily identified.

"It's pretty tedious work,” Brent Mullinix, a detective with the Austin Police Department, said. “They're having to crawl along the bottom of the lake here and visibility is pretty low due to the weather, so it's a slow process.”

The divers will search the length of the 360 bridge because the parts can pose a risk to boaters and swimmers.
