Under the Texas Army National Guard, 260 men and women make up the 449th Aviation Support Battalion.

The group is heading on a mission to Kuwait soon, where they will be supporting other troops throughout the Middle East. Their colors were cased on Wednesday--signaling a deployment--and soldiers like Sgt. Alonzo Price are ready to go.

"We're going to be supporting an aviation brigade for a communications company. We're going to be supporting satellite systems, AM/FM operations and digital communications," Sgt. Price said. "I just look forward to another trip overseas serving our country. Making sure we do our job and come home safe."

For Spc. Trey Macaluso, this will be his first deployment.

"I just got out of black hawk class so it's going to be nice to get some hands on realistic experience in an actual war zone," he said.

The soldiers will be missed during their time away from those they love most.

"We're very proud that not only is my husband a soldier, but that he is willing to give away part of his time ensure that everything that we have, that we love--he's defending it,” Macaluso’s wife Anastasia said.

The soldiers will be on a nine-month deployment, which includes some training time at Fort Hood. The 449th Aviation Support Battalion is based in San Antonio, with a majority of its soldiers coming from Central Texas.
