Authorities have filed a charge of murder against 31-year-old mother who crashed her car in February, killing her four-year-old daughter.

Shea Lynn Goss of Pflugerville now faces the murder charge, two charges of aggravated assault causing bodily injury and a charge of driving while intoxicated after police said she crashed her car into a tree in Northwest Austin last month, killing her daughter and injuring her three other children.

Police found prescription muscle relaxers and pain killers in her car, according to court documents.

The medical staff who examined Goss told police that she appeared to be intoxicated and did not receive any medications from the hospital, nor did she suffer a head injury which would account for her state, according to an arrest affidavit.

In the affidavit, the interviewing officer noted that Goss’ speech was “extremely slurred” and she fell asleep several times during the interview.

Goss has been held in the Travis County Jail since her arrest on Feb. 20.

This is Austin’s 15th traffic fatality of 2013. At this time in 2012, there were 8 traffic fatalities.
