Got that...absolutely positively pressing too much at the plate. Before Tuesday's Texas baseball game against UT Pan American, Augie Garrido was heard joking on the field to the umpires that the Horns had only scored 6 runs in a week. Truth be told, it's not really a laughing matter. Through the first 11 games of the season the Horns ranked just 175th in the nation with a .256 average.
They didn't do much to help that number Tuesday night with only 5 hits against the Broncs, although they did manage 6 runs. The lack of offense continues a disturbing trend from a season ago when Texas hit just .263. UT canned hitting coach Tommy Harmon and brought in Tommy Nicholson. So far that's done little to revive the dormant bats at the Disch. Augie says it's mental at the plate.
