It’s that time of the year again. South by Southwest is upon us and its technology focused SXSW Interactive is set to kick off on Friday.

Now in its ninth year, the South by Southwest Interactive draws attendees from across the country to the Capitol City.

"We came last year and got some great ideas with multimedia,” Marie McLennan, a grad student from Georgia, said. “We're here again this year to see if we can get some more great ideas."

Rebecca Samuel leads a small public relations firm specializing in business to business—or B2B.

"Last year's show really kind of opened my eyes up to the potential of using social media in the B2B space, gave me some good ideas how to implement that," Samuel said.

Kevin Callahan runs a fitness app company.

"We're about eight years old,” Callahan said. “We’ve got almost a hundred employees, fourteen million users. We're one of the top health and fitness apps in the store right now."

From beginners to seasoned professionals, attendees come to the technology portion of the world-famous conference for the same reasons.

“It's the one time a year where everyone comes to Austin, so we're hosting a big open house tomorrow and we're meeting with a lot of business partners, potential business partners," Callahan said.

One of the most popular parts of the interactive conference—the SXSW Gaming expo—is a free public event that starts Friday afternoon. Doors open at three at the Palmer Events Center.
