The South by Southwest Film Conference hosted its film awards Tuesday night, giving a big boost to up and coming filmmakers.

One of the biggest honors went to the drama "Short Term 12," which stars Brie Larson and is set in a foster care facility. It won the Grand Jury Narrative Feature Award and a prize package, including $60,000 worth of camera gear rental. Much of the cast is in town for the film's world premiere and they've got lots to celebrate.

YNN's Film Reporter Victor Diaz caught up with winning filmmaker Destin Daniel Cretton.

The Grand Jury Documentary Feature Award comes with $50,000 worth of post production services. Director Ben Nabers took the prize for his biographical film "William and the Windmill."

Austin filmmaker Geoff Marslett was honored with the Louis Black "Lone Star" award for his locally-produced drama, "Loves Her Gun." The movie was filmed in Texas and made its world premiere at the fest.
