The eight-block area around Republic Square appears to be the next hot spot for development, according to Colin Pope, editor of the Austin Business Journal.
He said among the big changes in the works are an upscale hotel high-rise called Hotel ZaZa, possible new high-rise at the site of the former Austin Post Office and a 13-story IBC Bank Plaza.

The Republic Square area is just about the last area of downtown to undergo large-scale development, Pope said.
