Austin-area traffic resources

Want to avoid being stuck in a jam?

Check the Texas Department of Transportation first. They offer localized traffic information for Austin, such as road closures and state-wide conditions.

TxDOT has about 20 traffic cameras available online for Central Texas. They cover the main highways surrounding Austin.

Road Works is offered by the city of Austin. It has information about events, construction closures and projects that will affect traffic in Downtown Austin.

Capital Metro lists bus routes and schedules, of course, but they also offer programs to promote commuting options for Central Texans including carpooling, car sharing and more.

YNN Austin provides a 24-hour traffic channel on Time Warner Cable channel 348 or in HD at 1506. It shows a rotation of the 20 most common camera views available by TxDOT, plus audio and text information of the latest area closures and detours.

YNN Austin also airs continuous traffic updates every 10 minutes Monday - Friday from 6 a.m. - 9 a.m. and then from 4 p.m. - 7 p.m.
