Temple City Officials have accepted a settlement to resolve their lawsuit over shoddy construction on the city's police headquarters

The building was completed in 2005, and shortly thereafter, problems appeared, including mold. City leaders filed suit against the building's contractors and subcontractors, and won $7.25 million in the settlement.

The figure will cover the building's repair costs and legal fees. City officials say they're happy the lawsuit is over.

"It was simply to recuperate those costs and not have any additional costs associated with what we determined to be poor workmanship, poor design or a combination of both," City Manager David Blackburn said.

No word yet on when the city will receive the settlement money. Temple police moved back into their new home after the renovations. Since then, no problems have been reported with the building.
