Austin’s burgeoning tech industry received another bit of good news Thursday.Governor Perry announced Thursday that National Instruments will expand its research and development branches here in Austin.
The expansion will involved about $80 million in capital investment and is expected to add about 1,000 jobs locally. The new positions will mostly be engineering jobs.
The project also means building a 300,000 square-foot facility near the company's site in North Austin.
A spokesperson for Gov. Perry’s office says Texas is providing $4.4 million from the Texas Enterprise Fund to close the deal.
The deal won't be sealed until a local incentive package is finalized.
