District Judge John Dietz ruled Wednesday new evidence will be heard in that school finance lawsuit. Dietz made his ruling after lawyers for the state argued that actions taken during the 83rd Legislature—namely a boost in public education funding and reduced standardized testing requirements—should be admitted as evidence. Six weeks of testimony on what the new funding means may begin in January.

Austin firefighter Colin Camp is in critical condition after being struck by a pickup truck while riding his bicycle Tuesday afternoon in South Austin. The driver of the truck fled the scene, but was later arrested. He is charged with aggravated assault of a motor vehicle and failure to stop and render aid.
