APD identifies teen found dead in SE Austin

Austin police have identified the young girl found dead at a home in southeast Austin Tuesday as 13-year-old Sophia Nicole Martinez.
The teen was not breathing when emergency crews found her. She was pronounced dead at Dell Children’s Hospital. Her body showed no obvious signs of trauma, according to police.
Officers say inaccurate details about the girl’s death have been reported by sources other than APD. In a press release Tuesday, officials said APD’s investigation into the case is “quickly progressing,” and police should have a clear understanding of how Martinez died in coming days.
