City workers in a couple of locations could soon have the option of showering at work. Austin City Council is expected to approve the construction of two shower facilities, one at the Austin Parks and Recreation Department and one at the Austin Water Utility, which will cost more than half a million dollars.

Stiffer abortion regulations are on their way to becoming law in the state of Texas. Late Tuesday night, the Senate passed a group of bills which would significantly change the way abortion clinics operate.

District Judge John Dietz ruled Wednesday that new evidence will be heard in that school finance lawsuit. Dietz made his ruling after lawyers for the state argued that actions taken during the 83rd Legislature—namely a boost in public education funding and reduced standardized testing requirements—should be admitted as evidence. Six weeks of testimony on what the new funding means may begin in January.

Austin firefighter Colin Camp, a six-year veteran of the department, is in critical condition after being struck by a pickup truck while riding his bicycle Tuesday afternoon in South Austin. The driver of the truck fled the scene, but was later arrested. He is charged with aggravated assault of a motor vehicle and failure to stop and render aid.

Travis County District Attorney Rosemary Lehmberg appeared at the Travis County Commissioners Court on Tuesday to discuss the county's options now that Gov.
